The Penguins placed goaltender Antti Niemi on waivers.  He is 0-3-0 with a 79.7% save percentage in three games.

Grunt stole me.

I saw a lady throwing up blood on the side walk today in downtown... And I thought that was the worst thing I'd see all day and then this post happened.

I hate to see Niemi placed on waivers after three starts.  In the three games Niemi has started, the team in front of him played like crap.

Niemi is a short-term solution for the Penguins until Tristan Jarry or, considering his play, Casey DeSmith is ready to come up.  I expect to see Jarry sooner than later.

You can't blame him entirely for the way the team has played infront of him.

But man, he sure was garbage when he had a chance to give the Penguins a chance to win.

I don't think there was a chance to win last game and in Chicago the way the team played. But Niemi should have had at least 2-3 goals back, that's for sure.

They should have signed Pro Niemi in the first place.

That's happened.  He's been called up.

DeSmith gets de-call.  Hopefully, he won't face defeat in defending de-net.  I do declare.

Agreed.  It's hard to believe that a 10-1 loss  and a 7-1 loss was all on the way the pens played D.    Granted, they sucked.  But, I think Murray is in net, and they lose 5-1 and 4-1.

The team that skated and played badly in front of Niemi owns the problem of bad play that needs to be resolved.  I am not worried about the goaltenders in front of the net.  I am worried about team members who powered up the crack machine Saturday and came out high.

The Penguins may or may not win those games.

The team played awful, but it's hard playing from behind. You need to at least make make a few big saves to keep your team in it. It seemed like Niemi could never do that and if he did, he'd give up a pretty weak goal later on.

Oh no!  BK has infected Bob's brain.  He created a virus and it's spreading.

I would love to be a fly on the wall as all the GMs scramble to be the first to claim Niemi. It must be utter bedlam in the NHL right now. Don't surprised if todays games get postponed guise.

This is just the first shoe to fall.

"Panthers" claimed Niemi. Who will play his salary then: "Pens" or "Panthers"? And to whose salary-cap will it count?

LOL.  Better them than us.  They get the salary cap hit.  Pens are not on the hook for the balance of his salary since he was claimed.

I think the Florida Panthers are on the hook for Niemi's salary going forward.
